FEBS Workshop on:

The Institute of Genetics and Biophysics (IGB), CNR,  organizes a Workshop once a year. The IGB Meetings are interdisciplinary international Workshops on molecular and cellular biology of scientifically relevant subjects held since 1989 in the delightful natural setting of the Capri island. The topics, always related to  areas linked to IGB research, have been focused on a variety of subjects, such as molecular evolution, X chromosome, neural development, MHC genes, plant development, ocular development and physiology, cell migration and their relationships with human diseases. The scientific level, the format and the quality are recognised by international organisations, like FEBS or EMBO, which funded most of the recent workshops.

Each Workshop brings together about 25 leading scientists in the specific field as invited speakers. About  60 participants are selected from applicants responding to our advertisements in major scientific journals and www sites. According to our selection criteria,  young and promising investigators are strongly encouraged to participate and apply for fellowships.  The enchanting surroundings  combined with the isolated environment and the structure of the sessions have been found to be highly conducive to scientific exchange among all participants.

IGB Meeting Coordinators were M. Graziella Persico and Edoardo Boncinelli in 1988 and 1989;  M. Graziella Persico and Umberto di Porzio from 1990 to 2001; M. Graziella Persico in 2002;  M. Graziella Persico, Ingram I. Iaccarino and M. Patrizia Stoppelli from 2003 to 2005, since 2006 Ingram I. Iaccarino and M. Patrizia Stoppelli.
